The Internet is a rich resource for educators.  This workshop will use a ‘hands on’ approach to define and develop on line activities that Denver Academy’s teachers can use within their classrooms to enhance their student’s learning experience.  Class participants will use a WebQuest format to research such topics as Internet ethics, effective research techniques and developing online communication with students and parents.  The final project for this class will be the development of a personal web page for each participant.

The WebQuests that will be used this week are not traditional in format in that they are meant for individuals to process rather than in a collaborative group learning activity.  Also, these WebQuests are meant to be completed within the two hour timeframe that we are given for each class.  They are  meant for the student to gain knowledge about the topics and not to have them develop broad understanding and assimilation of the topic.  Hopefully, with futher use and experimentation of to tools and techniques that are explored in these few days, you will assimilate these few techniques in your repertoire to the point where innovation and experimentation are common events when intergrating technology into the academic lives of your students.

This week will also be spent playing with new tools that I hope you will find ways to use in your classroom.  We will explore  RSS(Really Simple Syndication), weblogs(Blogs), podcasts, and creating a webpage using HTML (HyperText Markup Language)  In order to do this, we will spend some time becoming familiar with two web browsers
; Firefox and Mozilla which have features beyond those offered by Internet Explorer.  In addition to all of this, we will beadding daily post to the blog that I've created for this workshop.
